Because everybody’s a critic…

Critics Republic is a website of reviews and criticism about performing arts productions in Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley, and elsewhere in Malaysia.

It was started by dance producer and critic Bilqis Hijjas. Only some of the views expressed on this website are hers!

The aims of Critics Republic are fourfold:

1. To commission original reviews by established arts writers and practitioners.
2. To mentor emerging writers in engaging with performing arts criticism.
3. To encourage the general public to express their own opinions about shows.
4. To aggregate and collect reviews from other sources in one place, for easy searching.
